NEARLY 8% OF U.S. POPULATION HAS ASTHMA
According to data from national and state surveys administered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), asthma affected 24.6 million people in the United States in 2015, including 6.2 million children under the age of 18. Without proper management, asthma can result in frequent emergency department (ED) visits, hospitalizations, and premature deaths. In 2013, nearly 1.6 million people visited an ED for asthma-related care, and more than 439,000 people were hospitalized for asthma.
